Does your daughter have a favorite doll? Well I have some tips for you for doll care.
We are heading into nicer weather now. If you have a little girl that loves her doll, she may want to take it outside. While this may not be ideal it is hard to stop them from taking their best friend with with on an outdoor adventure. I have some ideas that you may find helpful if your daughters doll seems to get a little dirty from an outdoor adventure.
Tip number 1
Play clothes! Encourage your daughter to dress her doll up like she would to go out and play. Your favorite doll should not go to play in her ball gown. That is a recipe for disaster. A shorts and shirt will do nicely. Fancy doll clothes are difficult to get clean if you should get them dirty so it is best to encourage them to not go outside in their nice clothing.
Tip number 2
Buy a magic eraser. Yep I said that. A magic eraser works great for cleaning the vinyl limbs on your doll. Get it damp and gently wipe down the limbs. If you need to use it on the dolls face be extra careful. You do not want to get water around the eyes as it can cause the eyes to rust.
Tip number 3
Use a wig brush on the dolls hair. The American Girl Doll company sells a brush that is appropriate for use on your dolls hair. Start at the bottom and work slowly to the top so that you are not pulling the hair out of the wig. Wigs can get matted if they are not taken care of but you can many times restore it to its previous beauty with a good hot water dunk.
